Artwork File Type

What is the best format to supply my artwork in?

Designs that use graphics and text elements (basically any non-photographic content) are best supplied as vector PDFs. Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file system that contains all the information it needs to be viewable on any computer without additional software.

Best File Type.Images are dealt with in two different ways within a PDF, raster and vector. Raster images are basically dot matrix in structure and when you enlarge them there is a corresponding loss in image quality. Vector files are not resolution dependent, they can be scaled to any size without loss of quality, and this will ensure your design prints as sharp as possible. This is why we recommend vector over raster.

Vector graphics can be scaled to any size without loss of quality, whereas raster will become pixelated around the edges if enlarged.

What file types do you accept?

We accept a wide range of files to be as flexible as possible. We love vector PDF files as it gives the best print quality and is the most stable format but AI, INDD, PSD, EPS, JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP, GIF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Excel will be welcomed.

Please make sure all fonts and images are embedded within your document. If you’re unsure how to do this then just ask our friendly design team who will be able to help.

What is a PDF & how do I create a PDF file of my artwork?

A PDF is a Portable Document Format. Supplying a print ready PDF for your artwork ensures the smoothest possible journey from design through to print and delivery. You can pre-flight your PDF using the Adobe PDF/X-4 preset. This is an agreed standard for printing a typical PDF at its best settings.
